The feeling of Travel If you've ever been on any kind of trip you probably know the feeling I'm about to describe. That feeling is the one you get as the day of your trip approaches. January of 2004 I first started researching and envisioning my trip to Europe. A few months later I convinced my friend Parker that he should go with me. He jumped on board and from then we had about a year to plan and get ready. The following January I began to purchase the things I needed. I had purchased my plane ticket, ordered my railpass, and had bought a backpack. I was virtually ready to go, but now I just had to wait. As the day grew closer and closer and I grinded away at school I became more anxious everyday. Its all you can think about when you have a trip coming up. The semester was finally over and I was making the final preperations for my trip. I would be gone for 38 days so I had to make sure I was prepared. We both pre-packed our bags to make sure we had everything and did all the research we needed to online to be sure that when we arrived we would be ready. The feeling I was talking about comes to a culmination the night before you leave. It almost feels surreal. I had been dreaming and planning for over a year and now it was almost here. That night I could barely stop thinking about the next day long enough to fall asleep. And then it happens. After getting just a few hours of sleep I'm awake and getting my things together. The previously discussed feeling is now over and a new one sets in. I am now out on the road being bombarded by new places, things, people, and amazing experiences for the next 5 weeks. Its what I've waited for and its what I live for.
